Deston Pope, recently completed his bachelor’s degree in Geography and Environmental and Natural Resource Management. Passionate about disaster risk management and geographic information systems, Deston aims to further his studies in these fields with the goal of improving local and regional disaster mitigation systems.
In 2019, Deston worked as a CCRIF intern at the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology in Barbados. This helped to improve his experience with GIS software, which he used to analyze flooding and sargassum seaweed across the region. He is currently looking for new opportunities in the field to expand his knowledge.
