This Town Hall Meeting will focus on the Caribbean Geospatial Development Initiative (CGDI). The CGDI will build on efforts by the UNGGIM Americas, the Government of Mexico, and other regional organisations, and will use the ESRI and CARICOM agreement as a platform to develop strategies for improving Spatial Data Infrastructures in Caribbean countries.
First, an overview of the global environment will be provided along with a review of previous SDI developments efforts in the Caribbean. Notwithstanding these efforts, the current situation requires additional efforts. The objectives and expected results will be described.
The floor will then be opened for comments, questions and suggestions to improve the proposed initiative. This town hall meeting promises to provide great insights into the work being done in Geospatial Data Infrastructure at the international and regional levels and how the Caribbean is likely to benefit from these developments.
