I am a passionate advocate for sustainable development and the use of technology to create innovative solutions especially in the Caribbean region. I completed a Bachelors of Science in Geology at the University of the West Indies, Mona as well as GIS specialization through University of California, Davis. I also have a certification in Project Management from the University of the West Indies Open Campus. My work experience has been heavily based in the environmental sector. I did an internship at the Environmental Management Authority (EMA) in Trinidad and Tobago where I assisted in creating a manual that guides Environmental Management Officers in processing Certificates of Environmental Clearance for applicants. At the EMA I also got experience assisting in georeferencing different project locations that are of interest to the EMA. I moved on to be a Junior Geologist for a mineral exploration company, Geophysx Jamaica Limited where my role was to train and lead teams in mineral exploration throughout the island of Jamaica. I gained a lot of insight and experience into data collection, mineral identification and GIS mapping using data collected. I am currently working as a GIS Analyst with GeoTechVision where I have been involved in numerous projects varying from processing UAV data to create Digital Surface Models, training clients in the use of UAV's, providing solutions for surveying including hardware and software and general participation in conferences and workshops to identify new solutions and programmes that can grow the GIS industry in the locally and regionally. My organization also has entered the education space where we are interested in bringing classroom solutions using our hardware solution such as our tablets and software solutions such as Educo. Key topics you may talk to me about are training in UAV's especially for highschool kids and University students as I am a community instructor through the WeRobotics Organization and the Flying Labs network.
