Coral Gables, Florida
Val Guillou is the founder and CEO of GEOPORTAL IO LLC, a software company from Coral Gables, Florida. GEOPORTAL IO provides cloud-native solutions and services in Location Intelligence.

Val started his career as a GIS programmer more than twenty years ago. In 2004, he co-founded ThinkGeo, a GIS company based in Dallas offering mapping SDKs.

In 2015, in Panama City, Panama, he co-founded Mapgenix, a GIS consulting company to meet the rising needs in GIS in the emerging economies of Latin America.

In the last couple of years, Val perceived the paradigm shift from traditional GIS to Location Intelligence brought along by the digital transformation to cloud computing and the explosion of IoT. Hence he envisioned the multi-purpose cloud-native platform GeoPortal™ to bridge the gap between digital mapping and IoT. GeoPortal™ is designed from the ground up on a multi-model persistence and microservices architecture.

Val is a Top 50 Tech Visionaries awardee, InterCon, Las Vegas, 2019.
