Douglas Nelson is an information systems manager and implementer working for more than 25 years across a range of private, non-governmental and public sector organizations providing financial, water utility, ICT, agriculture extension and geospatial solutions and services.
He is currently the Vice President for New Business Research and Development at Spatial Innovision Limited, a long established, Jamaican registered, geospatial and land management company, the Caribbean’s first adapter and supplier of digital geomatics and mapping technology from Trimble and ESRI. At Spatial, Douglas drives the adaption of systems and practices to streamline solutions sales, support and projects workflows; explore new geospatial technologies, applications and markets; and shape the functional and technology architecture of proposed geospatial solutions that are practical for the Caribbean context.
He is also the principal GNSS infrastructure resource on Active Geodetic Networks and Radio Beacon corrections systems projects implemented by Spatial in Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Guyana and more lately a faithful evangelist for ArcGIS Platform solutions. Douglas holds a BA degree from University of the West Indies and certifications from Microsoft, Comptia and PRINCE2.
